   Herb Gardening

No matter where you live, an herb garden can bring warmth and fragrance to your home.  Whether you have a small apartment terrace or a large open yard, planting an herb garden can be tailored to fit your lifestyle.  Most herbs can be planted in small pots or in large gardens.

Check out the information below, as well as the Q & A Section, to find out more about herb gardening, planting herbs, herb care, and much more.

Herbs
History is full of wonderful plants grouped under herbs. They were used for cooking, medicines, dying cloth and pest control. They were used fresh and or dried and come in annuals and perennials. Nothing is more wonderful than to be out on a warm, sunny afternoon in the garden with the smell of basil, rosemary, and oregano.

     Did you Know..

Many of the medicines we use today, are derived from herbs we grow everyday in our gardens. Herbs are not only great for adding flavor to our meals, they’re also packed with nutritional benefits.

     Bright Idea...

Plant herbs in and among your vegetable plants. Many herbs do a great job of attracting or repelling pests away from other plants we’re trying to protect. There are lots of combinations that are said to work. Do your homework and don’t be afraid to experiment.  It’s a great way to enjoy growing herbs and fighting pests organically at the same time.

     Quick Tip...

Some herbs, like mint, can become very invasive if left to grow unchecked in the garden. Consider growing these plants in containers instead. You’ll get all the benefits without the risk of them overtaking your garden.
